Three Types of Augustinian's in the Missions

When people think of Augustinian's serving in the missions they immediately think of the friars. They are not the only ones who serve in this beautiful ministry. Augustinian Sister's serve in the missions throughout the world. They can be found on almost every continent serving in so many and varied ministries. At times the Sister's and friars serve in the same mission and many times the Sister's serve in their own independent missions. The Sister's originate from countries throughout the world. Very few are American.

The third type of Augustinian missionary is the Augustinian Volunteer. These are young men and women who offer to not just to serve the poor in the United States and our missions in Peru and Africa, but make the commitment to live the Augustinian life through prayer, community and the sharing of goods, for a period of one year. This program is part of the East coast Augustinian Province.
