February 8 is the anniversary of John D. Gallagher.

John Dennis Gallagher was born in County Denegal, Ireland about the year 1812. He was vested as a lay brother at Villanova, PA, in 1843.

Brother John served at Saint Augustine’s in Philadelphia, PA, and at Lansingburg (Troy), NY. He also served at Villanova, where he helped build the study hall chapel in 1844.

Brother John was 82 when he died at Villanova on February 8, 1894. He is buried there in the Community Cemetery. He was the last member of a group which formed part of the first community at Villanova in 1843.
