Father Peter Donohue, O.S.A., president of Villanova University, received the 2015 Barry Award, presented at a dinner held at the Union League, in Philadelphia on November 20, 2015. The Barry Award is given annually to a person who has made significant contributions to the Church, the community and their profession.

The Award is named for Commodore John Barry, father of the United States Navy. Commodore Barry was a contributor as Matthew Carr, O.S.A., raised funds to establish Saint Augustine Church in Philadelphia, the first Augustinian foundation in the United States, In a mosaic, which is on Villanova’s campus, Commodore Barry and Matthew Carr, O.S.A., are pictured with other contributors, including George Washington. There is a building on Villanova University’s campus named for Commodore John Barry, which is home to the Naval ROTC on campus.
