Craig McMahon, O.S.A., who was ordained at Saint Thomas of Villanova Church in June, 2013, has been in England studying Economics, first at the London School of Economics, where he received an M. Sc. degree last year. Last week, he was awarded an MPhil degree from Cambridge University, which he earned with his dissertation that focused on the social/political factors in the US and the UK affecting the control of usury in payday lending. The MPhil (Masters of Philosophy) is a step below the PhD degree.

Based on the quality of his dissertation, Father Craig was awarded direct admission into Cambridge’s PhD program in the History of Economics.
