The parish of Our Mother of Good Counsel in the Italian district of South Philadelphia, was formally organized on this day in 1898 with three friars who had recently arrived from Italy at the invitation of Archbishop Ryan and the obedience of Prior General and Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop Sebastian Martinelli.
