When Mary said, ‘Your father and I have been very worried looking for you,’ he answered, ‘Did you not know that I have to be about my Father’s business?’ because he was not willing to be their son in such a way that they didn’t realize he was the Son of God. The Son of God is always the Son of God, the one who created them, after all. But as son of man, born in time of the virgin without seed of her husband, he still had each of them as a parent.
The Nativity of the Lord • Year C
The passage of the gospel we have just heard, dearly beloved brothers and sisters, calls for purity in the eyes of our hearts. As a result, you see, of John’s preaching of the gospel, we have come to accept our Lord Jesus Christ as the maker of the entire creation in virtue of his divinity; and as the restorer of the fallen creation in virtue of his humanity.
Fourth Sunday of Advent • Year C

In today’s readings as in our daily lives, the presence of God is recognized in the little things. Does not each of us know how a small gesture of greeting can transform a stranger into an acquaintance? Not a word from Mary is recorded in today’s Gospel but her gesture of familial love speaks volumes.
