Twenty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time • Year A
Our Gospel today from Saint Matthew reminds us how tough it will be and what is at stake when he asks us, “What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?” To gain our eternal lives, let us follow the Prophet Jeremiah and allow the Word of the Lord to overcome our itching ears and become “like fire burning” in our hearts.
Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time • Year C
People have an ever greater need to know that “Christ is Risen!” For them the only way they may know the Risen Jesus is seeing us, as Christians, living the Beatitudes. In living the Beatitudes, they need to see Christ risen in us! Throughout the life of the Church this has been seen as “Being the Body of Christ.” Saint Augustine saw this as “Being the Body of Christ with others.”
Thirty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time • Year B
When we think of preparing for the coming Church Year, let us think how we can blossom like fig trees and shine like bright lights for others. We don’t need to leave Saint Michael on the battlefield, we can call on him to guide and guard us on our journeys. Pope Benedict saw Saint Michael as a Guardian Angel for all of us. When he was ordaining bishops he prayed, that they should be like Saint Michael “true guardian angels.”
