Exaltation of the Cross • Year C
He was human like us to the end; he did not go beyond his humanity to show that the human person is good, dignified, worthy of respect and important in the eyes of God. He stayed on that cross as a sign to those who believe that the human spirit is unconquerable. It is only those who are blind to the true meaning of faith who cannot see the victory of the cross, and see it as a failure, a defeat, a scandal. But those who accept it and embrace it, they are the ones who, like Jesus, will ultimately triumph over it.
