Second Sunday of Easter • Year C

Many things in the world make us not happy: War, loneliness, discrimination, hatred, poverty, hard work with low wages, domestic violence, drugs, alcoholism, just to name a few. These are problems that many of us struggle with. Jesus gently invites us to believe. He invites Thomas to have faith in him. He invites you and me to have faith in him. And he invites us to accept his gift of peace.

Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time • Year C

Our words can clarify and clear the air. They can deceive and create confusion. Most of our interaction with the world is through words. In 2025, those words might not travel through the air as sound waves, but move hundreds or thousands of miles instantaneously as texts or tweets or emails. Still, they have the power to heal or to hurt.

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time • Year B

One of the ways Jesus works is through the Body of Christ, which is the Church – the Christian community. St. Paul tells us that the community of the Church is the body of Christ, and Christ’s love and grace flow through it from one member to the other just as blood flows through our veins from one part of our body to the other.

At Mass, Jesus works in our hearts to heal and make us whole through His Holy Word. Jesus gives us the wisdom of God, healing, and consolation; he gives us words of guidance, and he gives us power through His Holy Word. We need to listen to the Word of God with the expectation and the hope that through that Word, he can touch our hearts in a healing and transforming way.
