Cascia Hall in Tulsa, Oklahoma opened on this day in 1926, with an enrollment of 25 students. The care of souls with fixed parish limits was part of the original agreement with the bishop, Francis C. Kelley.

Archbishop Richard Cushing dedicated “the Augustinian College of Merrimack Valley” in the presence of the Prior General, Joseph Hickey, and provincial and founder, Mortimer Sullivan. Fr. Vincent McQuade was its first president.

This date marked the opening of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the founding of Villanova College, including a Solemn Pontifical Mass offered by Cardinal Denis Dougherty with 8 bishops and several hundred priests, religious sisters and 2,000 faithful in attendance.
