Pages from Our History

As special endeavor of the 150th anniversary of the Province of St. Thomas of Villanova in 2024-2025, we are pleased to introduce Pages from Our History.  Here you’ll find articles about some of our many friars, more detailed than the brief necrology sketches we feature elsewhere.

You’ll learn about Augustinian parishes in a bygone Philadelphia; the work of the Augustinians in Cuba at the turn of the 20th century; the remarkable story of an Austrian nobleman-turned-Augustinian novice; and three English immigrant brothers who all joined the Order but, sadly, all died early deaths.

Special thanks to Fr. Michael Di Gregorio, O.S.A. for researching these stories and providing them to us!

We hope you will enjoy these Pages from Our History.

The Legacy of

St. Augustine in the Catholic Church

Augustine was a thoughtful, empathetic, and loving servant of God. He valued community, welcomed others, and treated them the way they deserved to be treated. Augustine also laid the foundation for the Order of St. Augustine. The Order continues to explore ways to care for those in great need both in our Province work throughout Massachusetts, New Jersey, and surrounding states and in our greater missions throughout the world.

We invite you to continue to learn about St. Augustine, his life, and his teachings.

Sign up for our e-newsletter, where we share news and updates on how we continue to follow in St. Augustine’s footsteps.
